Elgin - Black Knight

Very rare and very original Elgin Black knight with original factory strap and original conical crystal- both being incredibly hard to find. This watch is a time capsule. It was worn but obviously sparingly then sat for decades.

It features many Hamilton-like attributes and it even came with a matching ladies model called the Ladies Elgin Midnight, just like Hamilton's his and hers models at the time. Beyond having a really cool name, the Black Knight has a sibling with a golden dial called the Eldorado, which is also a cool name. So if you see a Black Knight with a golden dial, it's really an Eldorado.
The Black Knight comes in a 14K gold filled case with uniquely-shaped lugs. The dial is textured and is almost golfball-like in appearance with funky applied numerals and triangular markers.
The back of the Black Knight is gold filled too. So it was a mid-to-higher end model in the line up and competed directly with Hamilton models at the time.

Finding a Black Knight in this condition js incredibly rare- don’t miss this opportunity to have one of the most beautiful American made wrist watches of all time.

Be advised that this watch is small at 30mm across without crown, which was very common for dress watches of this period. These smaller vintage watches are a dream in the colder months under a long sleeve cuff or sweater as they sit low on the wrist and glide under the sleeve.

DIAL: The black textured honeycomb dial is in great shape. The dial features Arabic numerals at the 12, 3, 9 position and is in a sub second dial configuration. it is completed by matching dauphine hands. 

CASE: The 27.5 14k gold filled case and back is in good shape showing light wear throughout commensurate with age. The watch wears much larger than its diminutive case size would suggest thanks to its hooded lugs. 

MOVEMENT: Elgin 680 21 jewel hand winding- made in USA adjusted.

BRACELET: Original signed textured leather strap and buckle- still supple and wearable.

ACCESSORIES: None.
