Hamilton Sloane

     Hamilton, for me, has always presented an interesting entry point into collecting vintage watches. Of course, I am biased. Born in New York but living in Bethlehem, PA the majority of my life, Lancaster is a close neighbor. More interestingly than simply geographical location, there are many nuances in collecting vintage Hamilton. For example, if you find Hamiltons that are old enough you will see "Lancaster, PA" stamped on the inside of the caseback. This would indicate that the watch was manufactured domestically before 1969 - the year that would mark the end of US production and the move of the brands operations to Switzerland.
     The example we have here is referenced "Sloane" and was manufactured prior to Hamilton's relocation. Thanks to the amazing work by Dan Keefe AKA @hamiltonchronicles on IG and his fantastic website, we know that the Sloane model production run was brief lasting only 3 years. It was considered more of an entry model for the brand that, despite some cost cutting attributes, featured an entirely made Lancaster movement. The configurations for the Sloane were: white or black dials and white or yellow gold filled cases.

CASE: The 10kt white gold filled bezel case is in good shape. It features a stainless steel back and a white gold filled bezel. It presents with light, even wear throughout and measures 26x29mm. 

DIAL:  An embossed black dial. The dial features a textured pattern that flanks the outer most portion of the left and right sides. The dial features applied, silver colored hour indices and alpha hands. The Hamilton signature is in silvered print. 

MOVEMENT:  Hamilton manually wound caliber 730. A movement that was manufactured close to home here in Lancaster, PA. Service history is unknown. The watch winds, sets, and runs. The watch was placed on a timegrapher which illustrated that it is keeping time within 31 seconds per day and has an amplitude of 230. The watch can be serviced for $325 plus parts (if necessary). If serviced the watch will come with a one year warranty. 

BRACELET: Comes on the pictured strap.
