Omega introduced its “Constellation” line in the early 1950’s starting with the reference 2648. The Constellation was Omega’s top-of-the-line model, offering chronometre certified bumper automatic movements and a medallion on the caseback depicting an observatory with 8 stars - each of which represent the 8 records omega set Geneva observatory trials.
Constellations featured a variety of case and dial designs over the years. Early references in the Constellation lineage featured cases with lyre style lugs. Later, Omega commissioned the famous Gerald Genta to redesign their iconic Constellation model where we saw the "dogleg" constellation introduced.
This reference, a 14900, represents Omega's transition from they lyre lugged constellation cases and the doglegs. The 14900 and 14902 with no date and date complication respectively, were produced for a short run before Omega went through a reorganization of its reference numbering system. This example was imported into the United States and retailed here in America.

ABOUT THIS WATCH:

MANUFACTURER: Omega

MODEL:  Constellation

REFERENCE:  14900

SERIAL: 1934xxxx

YEAR: 1962

CASE: The gold capped over steel case measures 34mm in diameter. The case has previously been polished in the past with most of the apparent polishing taking place on the watches caseback. Still, the solid yellow gold observatory medallion retains strong lines and definition. Additionally, the beveled edges on the gold capped lugs can still be appreciated. The crown has been replaced in the past. A correct crown may be placed on the watch prior to sale for an extra $200. The case is completed by the watches original, omega signed crystal.

DIAL: An original, silver, pie-pan dial. The dial is in good shape with minimal patina save for some staining observed between the 12 to 3 o'clock hour markers. The dauphine hands have taken on a charming pumpkin patina while the applied gold hour markers have aged several shades darker.

MOVEMENT:  Omega automatic bumper caliber 551. Service history is unknown. The movement winds, sets, runs and keeps time. The watch was placed on a timegrapher which illustrated that the watch is  losing 4 seconds per day and has an amplitude of 237. The watch can be serviced for approximately $325 plus parts. If serviced the watch will come with a one year warranty.

BRACELET:  Comes on the pictured, brand new, TUNs waxy brown leather strap complete with quick release spring bars.

BOX/PAPERS: No.

WARRANTY: None unless serviced prior. If the watch is serviced it will come with a 1 year warranty.
