Omega Constellation - 14902 - Legendary Movement
Omega Constellation - 14902 - Legendary Movement
Lets take a trip back to circa ~1964. At that time the Bureau de Marche - now known as Controle Officiel suisse des Cronometres or COSC - had just sent Omega a letter stating that 100,000 consecutive serial number movements had passed their chronometer certification with "Especially Good Results." 100,000! The consecutive piece of that statement is the part to pay attention to because it is a testament to Omega, the brand, itself. Consider the context: in the 1960's companies like Omega were not afforded the luxuries of manufacturing products with modern precision laser-assisted tools or computers. Omega was manufacturing and assembling high grade mechanical movements which were comprised of hundreds of parts largely by hand that were then put through a battery of tests in order to get COSC certified - tests that many other movements failed. Again, to have 100,000 consecutive movements pass to such a high degree is no small feet. There is even an old Omega advertisement - attached as one of the pictures - where they commemorate the feat. Which serial numbers are part of the 100,000 you say? 24,410,000 to 24,509,999. This one? 24,43x,xxx :).
