Omega introduced its “Constellation” line in the early 1950’s starting with the reference 2648. The Constellation was Omega’s top-of-the-line model, offering chronometre certified bumper automatic movements and a medallion on the caseback depicting an observatory with 8 stars - each of which represent the 8 records omega set Geneva observatory trials.
Constellations featured a variety of case and dial designs over the years. Early references in the Constellation lineage featured cases with lyre style lugs. Later, Omega commissioned the famous Gerald Genta to redesign their iconic Constellation model where we saw the "dogleg" constellation introduced.
This example, a dog leg constellation reference 167.005 was purchased by Mr. Jang Pak Man on the 18th of March in the year of 1965. It was sold by a Mr. Charles while working for Dabera Limited located in Hong Kong. The paperwork included with the watch accurately depicts the watch as stainless steel case with 14k gold top.

ABOUT THIS WATCH:

MANUFACTURER: Omega

MODEL:  Constellation

REFERENCE:  167.005

SERIAL: 203xxxxx

YEAR: 1965

CASE: The 34mm yellow gold capped over stainless steel case is unpolished. All four lugs retain their factory original facets and beveled edges. The case features its original, thin decagonal crown. The screw down caseback has some very faint wear throughout but no scratches from wrench marks at all. The yellow gold medallion has a crisp observatory and all 8 stars are present with a matte, grainy backdrop - exactly what you would expect to see from an unpolished example. The case is completed by the watches original, Omega signed crystal.

DIAL: The original silver sunburst dial is in good shape. The dial appears to be free from any scratches or staining. The dial presents with an even, rather faint, spotting/bubbling that is more or less noticeable depending on the viewing angle and lighting situation. The dial sports baton style hour markers and dauphine hands. It is a non-luminous example.
