Omega introduced its “Constellation” line in the early 1950’s starting with the reference 2648. The Constellation was Omega’s top-of-the-line model, offering chronometre certified bumper automatic movements and a medallion on the caseback depicting an observatory with 8 stars - each of which represent the 8 records omega set Geneva observatory trials.
Constellations featured a variety of case and dial designs over the years. Early references in the Constellation lineage featured cases with lyre style lugs. Later, Omega commissioned the famous Gerald Genta to redesign their iconic Constellation model where we saw the "dogleg" constellation introduced.
This reference, a 2652, is considered uncommon for one reason: its incased in rose gold. Rose gold constellations are highly sought after due to their rarity. This example is preserved relatively well with its two tone brushed and satin finished silver dial. We have paired with a colorful strap to dress it down a bit but obviously would go wonderful with a dark leather or crocodile strap as well.

ABOUT THIS WATCH:

MANUFACTURER: Omega

MODEL:  Constellation

REFERENCE:  2652

SERIAL: 1367xxxx

YEAR: 1952

CASE: The solid 14kt rose gold 35mm case is in good shape. The original bevel on the bezel can still be appreciated. The lugs and midcase retain strong lines. The screw down caseback is also in good shape. It shows some wear commensurate with its age. The medallion on the caseback is wonderfully preserved with the all 8 stars present, the observatory is crisp and the grainy sky backdrop still discernable. The crystal was replaced some time in the past. The case is completed by a modern service replacement which is the correct thick decagonal crown in matching rose gold.

DIAL: The original, two-tone, crosshair dial is in good shape. The outer track features a brushed concentric finish while the center circle is more matte in appearance. The dial presents with some spotting and patina. The dial features beautiful applied pink gold hour markers: Arabic style at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock and matching dauphine hands.

MOVEMENT:  Omega automatic bumper caliber 354. Service history is unknown. The watch was timed over 24hrs. The 24hrs included periods of wear/non-wear and compared to atomic EST. Over 24hrs the watch gained 6 seconds.

BRACELET:  Comes on the pictured like new, gently used Atasify strap complete with quick release spring bars.

ACCESSORIES: Included with the sale of the watch is a rose gold plated period correct omega buckle that likely originally came with the watch. These are rare as hens teeth when found in rose gold.

BOX/PAPERS: No.

WARRANTY: None.

BANK WIRE PRICE: $2,699 shipped.
