Omega introduced its “Constellation” line in the early 1950’s starting with the reference 2648. The Constellation was Omega’s top-of-the-line model, offering chronometre certified bumper automatic movements and a medallion on the caseback depicting an observatory with 8 stars - each of which represent the 8 records omega set Geneva observatory trials.
Constellations featured a variety of case and dial designs over the years. Early references in the Constellation lineage featured cases with lyre style lugs. Later, Omega commissioned the famous Gerald Genta to redesign their iconic Constellation model where we saw the "dogleg" constellation introduced.
This reference, a 2652, is in fair shape and presents as a good entry point into vintage omega watch collecting. It has a relatively affordable price point for a desirable omega constellation and even features the desirable arrow head and cross hair dial configuration.

ABOUT THIS WATCH:

MANUFACTURER: Omega

MODEL:  Constellation

REFERENCE:  2652

SERIAL: 139xxxxx

YEAR: 1952

CASE: The 35mm gold capped over steel case is in fair shape. The case has seen some polishing during its lifetime. All 8 stars and observatory are present on the screw down caseback; however some of the definition has been lost due to past polishing. The crystal has been replaced some time in the past. The case is completed by the correct modern service replacement thick decagonal crown.

DIAL: This example features a two tone dial with crosshair. There is some scratching on the dial that can be seen in the lower left quarter. This is a non luminous dial with matching non-luminous dauphine hands. The dial features the most highly desired and sought after hour marker configuration: arrow heads. Finally the dial shows some spotting and patina throughout having turned into a champagne color that matches the case.

MOVEMENT:  Omega automatic bumper caliber 354. The watch was opened by our watchmaker and was regulated and had a timing adjustment. A full service was not completed but the watch winds, sets, runs and keeps good time.

BRACELET:  Comes on the pictured, new, TUNS brown alligator vietnam minimalist style leather strap complete with quick release spring bars.
