Omega Seamaster 165.067 - JDM

     I swear Japan always gets the best watches. Whether it be a limited run in a new metal or a special dial, seemingly every week I am discovering a new configuration of a reference I never knew existed. And what market are these limited runs usually produced for? You guessed it, Japan. I guess that's what happens when an entire nation demonstrates a proclivity for finely made timepieces. Brands start to notice. Whether it be a Patek 3923 in steel or a Speedmaster with a really cool special edition dial - Japan was getting the love from all the brands. The affection wasn't just limited to old times either as we have seen more recently by the nations very own Japanese editions by Grand Seiko. Well, you can add another vintage Omega to the list. Enter the 165.067. 
    The Omega Seamaster reference 165.067 was originally released in 1969 and was the non-date configuration of its one year predecessor the 166.067. While the two aforementioned references were identical save for the date complication, make no mistake, the non-date 165.057 is far more rare. It featured a crown-guard less case design that could be considered bezeless and boasted a 60m water resistance thanks to its screw down caseback. At just over 35mm it was somewhat an oversized Omega for the time and considering its chunky case design it wears even slightly larger.
    Alright, enough about the case. What I really find neat about this specific watch is the dial. Coined "frosted sparkle" its unlike most other vintage Omegas that I have seen - and believe me, I've seen many. Being a Japanese market dial variation version it is non-luminous, of course.

CASE: The stainless steel case measures 35mm in diameter and appears to be in good shape. The case appears to retain its original stain brushed finishing and presents with rather even wear throughout. It illustrates distinct lines especially on its screwdown caseback. Speaking of the caseback, it features a seamonster medallion which is something that I just love on vintage Omega's. The crystal and crown have been changed sometime in the past. 

DIAL: The original silver "frosted sparkle" dial has patinated overtime to take on more of a ivory tone. It presents with some light, sporadic copper spotting mostly around the dials outer edge. It is a non-luminous dial variation intended for the Japanese market. It features applied baton style hour indices with black inlays and matching pencil hands. 

MOVEMENT:  Omega automatic winding caliber 552. Service history is unknown. The watch winds, sets, and runs. The watch was placed on a timegrapher which illustrated that it is keeping time within seconds per day and has an amplitude of . The watch can be serviced for $325 plus parts (if necessary). If serviced the watch will come with a one year warranty. 

BRACELET: The watch comes on a period, 7 row, beads of rice bracelet with correct end links.
