We have all heard of the SKX007. That watch, that reference has become something of legend. "The timepiece that gets a nod from watch snobs." Its been features on countless "best bang for your buck" lists with regards to watches. The hype is justified. In house movement? Check. Diver? Check. Affordable? Check. Automatic? Check. Robust construction? CHECK. Vertically integrated company? Check. It a lot of watch for the money but one thing was always lacking for me and that was the case proportions. The watch felt awkward on my vintage inspired wrists. It was case proportions clunky IMO. Enter the SKX025. You still get all of the benefits of its 007 cousin in a much more wearable footprint. At 38mm, the watch still retains a great wrist presence while allowing it to be more versatile. Some would argue that reducing the case diameter while retaining the same relative thickness to the 007 throws the case proportions off; however, I didn't find that to be the case on the wrist. Finally, lets briefly touch on the color configurations. The 007 sports that classic white hour markers on a black back drop. This is a classic design no doubt. Sported by the likes of the Rolex Submariner and the Omega Speedmaster, white on black is a timeless and lends itself to a very legible design. The 025 is more playful in my opinion. The blue dial isn't something you see every day and coupled with the Pepsi bezel, the watch takes on more unique look. One that fits in better in the spring and summer seasons.

ABOUT THIS WATCH:

MANUFACTURER: Seiko

MODEL: SKX

REFERENCE: 025

SERIAL: 729xxx

YEAR: 1997

DIAL: The matte blue dial is in good shape. The dial appears to be free of any scratches, patina, blemishes or otherwise imperfections. It features white circular style hour markers and a Day/Date window at 3 o'clock.

CASE: The 38mm stainless steel case is in good shape. It presents with wear commensurate for its age. The brushed finish can still be appreciated on the anterior portion of all four lugs which contrasts the mirror polished finish on the mid case. It features a Pepsi style bezel which shows some battle scars from its use. The bezel is a difficult to turn.

MOVEMENT: In house Seiko automatic caliber 7S26. I have owned the watch since 2019. It has not been serviced while in my possession and I have no service history prior to acquiring it. The watch winds, sets, runs and keeps relatively good time. Good time for what you would expect from this Seiko caliber.

BRACELET: Seiko oyster style stainless steel bracelet with Seiko marked clasp. Includes a diver extension.
