Vacheron & Constantin 4217 in Yellow Gold - Unpolished Case & Uncleaned dial.

CASE: The 34mm solid 18kt yellow gold case is in excellent shape. I believe the case is unpolished. The hallmarks are about as well defined, deep and crisp asyou can possibly imagine for a precious metal case thats 74 years old. The midcase illustrates the maisons original satin finish. The caseback demonstrates its original brushed finish as well. The case is 2x signed and matching. The crown is the correct style; however, it is a replacement.

DIAL:  The original silver sunburst dial is in great shape. The signature "Vacheron & Constantin Geneve" is done in engraved enamel. The integrity of the maisons signature "Vacheron & Constantin Geneve", remains well defined. The dial does not appear to have been cleaned which is very rare for vintage enamel dials. It features faceted hour markers. It is completed by its original yellow gold pencil hour/minute hands. The seconds hand is a Vacheron hand; however is not correct for this watch. It is a replacement. 

MOVEMENT: Vacheron manually wound caliber 454. Vacheron's finishing prowess that they had come to be known for by the mid twentieth century is on full display as we see a myriad of finishing techniques including cotes de Genève, pearlage, anglage and black polishing. The service history is unknown. The watch was placed on a timegrapher which illustrated that it is keeping time within 19 seconds per day and has an amplitude of 256. The watch can be serviced for $400 plus parts if any are needed. If serviced the watch will come with a one year warranty dated from the completion of service.
