Vintage Omega Constellation 14900 Pie Pan Full Arabic Numerals

     Omega introduced its “Constellation” line in the early 1950’s starting with the reference 2648. The Constellation was Omega’s top-of-the-line model, offering chronometre certified bumper automatic movements and a medallion on the caseback depicting an observatory with 8 stars - each of which represent the 8 records omega set Geneva observatory trials. 
     Constellations featured a variety of case and dial designs over the years. Early references in the Constellation lineage featured cases with lyre style lugs. Later, Omega commissioned the famous Gerald Genta to redesign their iconic Constellation model where we saw the "dogleg" constellation introduced. 
     This reference, a 14900,  has a rare dial worthy of a rare bird alert appearance. It is without exaggeration the first Omega Pie pan constellation with full Arabic Numerals that I have handled to date as the owner of Steel City Vintage.

CASE: The gold capped over steel case measures 34mm in diameter. The case has previously been polished in the past. The crown has been replaced. The case is completed by the watches original, omega signed crystal.

DIAL: An uncommon, original, silver, pie-pan dial with complete applied Arabic numerals. The dial is in great shape. It appears to be free of any staining, patina, or otherwise imperfections. It is non-luminous.

MOVEMENT: Omega automatic bumper caliber 551. Service history is unknown. The movement winds, sets, runs and keeps time. The watch was placed on a timegrapher which illustrated that the watch is keeping time within 16 seconds per day and has an amplitude of 260. The watch can be serviced for approximately $325 plus parts. If serviced the watch will come with a one year warranty.

BRACELET: I have paired this beautiful 14900 example with a brand new khaki pig skin strap. Italian leather entirely hand made from start to finish.
